On September 25, the long-awaited joint kickoff meeting / onboarding finally took place in Berlin. Starting at 10 a.m., everyone was able to get to know each other personally at Quadriga Media’s offices at Werderscher Markt in the heart of Berlin.
In addition to entertaining rounds of introductions, during which there was much laughter, it was time to get down to work: at a total of seven tables, the FAIRagro members, in alternating lineups, had lively discussions about the challenges and their possible solutions in the near future and about how FAIRagro can be ideally and sustainably positioned in the field of research data management within agrosystem research. Afterwards, three exciting keynotes were on the agenda: Christin Henzen from TU Dresden reported on “NFDI4Earth – An Open Consortium for FAIR RDM in Earth System Sciences”, the presentation by Leyla Jael Garcia-Castro, ZB MED was about “Bioschemas: Improvilng findability of Life Science and Research Artifacts on the Web” and Willem Jan Knibbe from Wageningen Data Competence Center presented the “Wageningen Data Competence Center and decentralized research datainfrastructures”.
After a short review of the day and a summary by FAIRagro Spokesperson Frank Ewert, the – much too short – eventful day came to an end and ended with a dinner at the restaurant “Amrit” at Potsdamer Platz.
A great event, which not only provided intensive insights into many aspects of research data management and the diverse fields of activity of FAIRagro, but also – finally – enabled a lot of personal encounters, which will certainly make future work a bit easier. Gladly again!
