FAIRagro Associated Partner

Get involved and stay active: Become a FAIRagro Partner

FAIRagro develops scalable infrastructures, services, and tools to support open, collaborative, and FAIR research data management (RDM) in agricultural sciences – and beyond. Our goal is to foster a cultural shift toward open science practices and to strengthen sustainable data management across disciplines and institutions.

What does it mean to become an Associated Partner?

The Associated Partner status offers a flexible framework for collaboration. It allows external partners to become an active part of our mission – contributing to the development of research data infrastructures and services that meet the needs and requirements of our community. At the same time, it supports the cultural shift towards open and collaborative research data management (RDM) practices.

As an Associated Partner, you can benefit from FAIRagro’s expertise, resources, and more, while actively contributing to the advancement of FAIR and community-driven RDM solutions.

Join a growing network that is shaping the future of FAIR and open data practices in agricultural research.

Examples of Our Associated Partnerships

Associated Partnerships at FAIRagro can take many forms – what they all share is a common commitment to collaboration. These partnerships are based on existing or planned cooperation and help advance FAIR and collaborative research data practices in agricultural sciences.

Whether through training, technical collaboration, data sharing, or RDM consulting – community participation is key to fostering cultural change and shaping a more open and FAIR research culture together. Examples include:

  • Collaborating on the development and conduction of RDM trainings
  • Providing expert advice to projects on implementing FAIR and collaborative RDM
  • Co-developing or testing tools, infrastructures, and services
  • Sharing datasets for testing, integration, and improvement of data services
  • Each partnership is unique – and we welcome diverse forms of collaboration that align with FAIRagro’s mission.

How to Become an Associated Partner?

Becoming an Associated Partner is based on a shared interest in advancing FAIR and collaborative research data management. The partnership builds on concrete collaboration, shared activities and mutual commitment. Here’s how to initiate the process:

Shared Mission: Ensure that your goals align with FAIRagro’s mission and values – ideally by supporting the FAIRagro FAIRness and Openness Commitment.

Concrete Collaboration:  Identify an area of collaboration – for example, joint training activities, technical exchange, data-related cooperation, or consultation in research data management.

Designated Contact Person:  Assign a dedicated contact person within your institution who will be responsible for coordinating the partnership on your side.

FAIRagro Facilitator:  Get in touch with a FAIRagro Facilitator (e.g. someone from the relevant task area, measure or working group), who will accompany and support the partnership from the FAIRagro side.

Application Form: Complete the short application form (available below) and send it to: fairagro@zalf.de

Review & Approval: Your application will be reviewed by the FAIRagro Steering Committee.

Implementation: Once approved, the partner joins the FAIRagro community as an active collaborator. The partnership becomes visible (e.g. on the FAIRagro website), and the designated contact and Facilitator coordinate the implementation of joint activities—ensuring access to relevant tools, services, and support.
