Don’t panic! A Survival Guide for Law and Ethics in Research

A brand new series of workshops from FAIRagro, NFDI4Earth and NFDI4Biodversity – starts April 8 2025

Attention researchers in agricultural and environmental research!

Imagine the following: You have drawn up a project design in a lengthy process, outlined an experiment, taken samples, made measurements, conducted interviews and recorded and processed small pieces of data. Finally, your publication and the associated data can be published! Then the super disaster: the ethics committee rejects the experiment, the data protection officer declares the data collection unlawful and the author of a publication complains because she believes she has not been quoted correctly.

What now? And how can you prevent this from happening in the first place?

Create a knowledge base for the numerous legal and ethical risk decisions that you have to make in your everyday life as a researcher.

This is exactly what we will help you with in our new workshop series “Don’t panic! A Survival Guide for Law and Ethics in Research.”!

You can look forward to inspiring workshops far away from stiff paragraph lectures.

With practical case studies and interactive exercises, we will guide you through legal and ethical issues relating to data protection, copyright and licensing, the Nagoya Protocol, artificial intelligence and more.

Become active yourself and learn the techniques that lawyers use as well to assess a legal problem!

The online workshop series is organized in close cooperation between the FAIRagro, NFDI4Earth and NFDI4Biodiversity consortia and is aimed at anyone working with agricultural and environmental data. The majority of the workshops will be held in German, but selected events with an international focus, such as the Nagoya Protocol, will be held in English.

Interested? Then make a note of the first workshops now:

We present you “Data protection on a silver platter”

on April 8, 9 and 10, 2025 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., online

It’s all about the GDPR (DSGVO) – what is it, what does it want, do I have to comply with it and if so, how do I deal with it?

We are currently preparing the registration – save the date! More on this shortly here and on social media.
