Onboarding Of New Use Cases

Announcement notice of the 1st FAIRagro Use Case Call

FAIRagro Use Cases (UC) deal with current challenges in research data management (RDM) within agricultural systems research. They are intended to serve as essential measures for the development, testing and dissemination of technical solutions for current RDM challenges. In addition, the use cases aim to promote cultural change towards FAIR RDM in agricultural systems research.

Through this approach, Use Cases can contribute by extending current FAIRagro developments and existing Use Cases, tackling new topics and challenges in research data management relevant to agrosystem research, and potentially broadening the scope of FAIRagro to encompass other disciplines and domains within agricultural sciences and beyond.

Use Cases will be integrated into the FAIRagro work programme and must be linked to specific FAIRagro actions and/or measures.

The FAIRagro proposal with a comprehensive overview of the FAIRagro objectives and a detailed description of the different actions is published on Zenodo under ‘FAIRagro – A FAIR Data Infrastructure for Agrosystems (proposal)‘.

We are currently preparing the 1st FAIRagro UC Call. The preliminary schedule is as follows:

  • Publication of the 1st FAIRagro UC Call: beginning of May 2024
  • Community Summit: 17 and 18 June 2024
  • Application deadline: beginning of July 2024
  • Announcement of the UC selection: Beginning of September 2024
  • Integration of new UCS: From October 20224

We strongly encourage all interested parties to attend the FAIRagro Community Summit, taking place on 17 and 18 June in Berlin, to gain insights into the latest developments of FAIRagro and the progress of the current use cases.

A side event of the event is specifically tailored to potential future use cases and offers you the opportunity to interact with existing use cases, get an introduction to the use case call and get answers to your questions.

The first open call for use cases took place in preparation for the DFG proposal already. We selected 6 use cases and integrated them into the work programme. Learn more about our Use Cases here.

Further use cases will be integrated during the FAIRagro funding period. As the future use cases and thus the further development of FAIRagro should be supported by the broad FAIRagro community, the Community Advisory Board with representatives from the FAIRagro community will be involved in the assessment. The catalogue of criteria (e.g. added value compared to existing use cases, links to existing use cases, integration of new areas and communities, feasibility and strategic suitability) serves as the basis for assessing submitted use cases.
