Training: From Field Data to FAIR Data: How to Manage Your Agrosystem Research Data

Apr212026
10-14:30 (inkl 1/2h lunch break)
Location: online

Agroecosystem research is central to addressing global challenges such as climate change, food security, and sustainable resource management. High-quality, reusable research data are a key prerequisite for interdisciplinary collaboration and long-term scientific impact.

This workshop introduces early-career researchers from all areas of agroecosystem research to the principles and practice of FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable) data management. Participants will actively engage with the research data lifecycle – from planning and data collection in the field and laboratory to documentation, publication, and reuse – discussing typical challenges and collaboratively exploring practical strategies for managing data in a structured, transparent, and sustainable way.

Using discipline-specific examples, concrete tools, and best practices, the workshop encourages discussion, exchange of experiences, and co-creation of solutions tailored to agroecosystem research. Participants will leave better equipped to align their data management with current standards and infrastructures in the FAIRagro/NFDI context, increasing the visibility, reproducibility, and long-term value of their research.
