The “Boosting Biodata Bootcamp 2026” has begun! We are very pleased to be hosting this conference in collaboration with the NFDI consortia NFDI4Biodiversity, NFDI4BIOIMAGE, the FAIRagro Consortium, and DataPLANT. The BBB is aimed at the entire biodata community; joint RDM solutions will be presented—we look forward to exciting presentations, poster sessions, workshops, hands-on exercises, training sessions, and a wide range of opportunities to connect with researchers in the life sciences.
Yesterday’s BBB event kicked off with an opening presentation by Konrad Förstner (ZB MED / TH Köln), in which he emphasized the importance of FAIR data practices for research.
The keynote by Tom Clavel (RWTH Aachen) then took us into the fascinating world of FAIR microbial strains and highlighted how innovative cultivation techniques and shared data on isolates can advance microbiological research.
Genuar Núñez Vega then gave a presentation on databases for digital sequence information (DSI), followed by workshops where participants gained hands-on experience with tools, practices, and services, including Aruna, OMERO, data management plans, and SciWin-based CWL workflows.

And, of course, after this first successful day, we couldn’t miss out on dinner together. Now we’re looking forward to two more days of inspiring talks, hands-on workshops, and great discussions with the Biodata community! You can find the program and all the relevant information here.
